Caring for children and youth with mental health issues, developmental disability and/or complex presentations can be very stressful for caregivers. Recognizing stress responses and grief and loss can be instrumental in planning for treatment, intervention, and support. Concepts such as stigma, assisting a family through a new diagnosis, understanding the challenges of raising children who express aggression in the home, complex family dynamics, vicarious trauma will be explored to help better understand that the entire family system needs to be supported
