Welcoming People with Gender and Sexual Diversities

The pandemic has highlighted inequities and multiplied challenges to the health, wellbeing and self-actualization of trans and gender diverse children, youth, and adults, and people with diverse sexual orientations.  This training will provide tools for offering services in safer, more gender affirming and health-promoting ways. Homelessness, discrimination and social stigma have serious mental health consequences and may contribute to substance use, anxiety, depression, and suicide, especially for young queer people.  This online, discussion and group-work based training, will be an opportunity to plan practical steps to address trauma experienced by 2SLGBTQI people and to share strategies for supporting people who are coming out, in transition, or trying to navigate erasure, rejection, or unsafe home environments.
